About Us
Sheryl (Brooks) Brown has been a court reporter since January 1978, after obtaining her Certificate of Proficiency and Certified Shorthand Reporter license. She reported depositions, arbitrations, and hearings out of various offices in Oakland, including her own, until 2001, when she began reporting in Humboldt County, having moved here in 1999. Now she owns Brooks & Brown Reporters in Eureka. She is also the current president of the Humboldt County Legal Professionals Association.
Dan Brown started including digital video as part of the services of Brooks & Brown Reporters. He has also produced video for "Every 15 Minutes" for Ferndale High School and yearly productions for Laura East's Ferndale Dance Academy. Residing in the same offices as Brooks & Brown is his new business, Humboldt Central Vacuum, providing built-in central vacuum systems in existing structures and new construction.
Dan also fills his time as the Vice Chair of the Ferndale Planning Commission, Chairman of the Design Review Committee, and serves on the board of directors of a national car club.
Dan and Sheryl live in the Victorian village of Ferndale. Sheryl enjoys being a grandmother to four granddaughters and two grandsons, a cook, and a baker. Occasionally, guests in her office are treated to home-baked goods. Dan enjoys golf and fishing and tinkering with his 1985 Lincoln Town Car and 1960 Bell Boy boat. They both enjoy traveling but also like to stay home amid the beauty of Humboldt County.
